Henry, Darrell V.
Darrell V. Henry, age 77, of Oak Run, Dahinda, Illinois died on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 10:24 P.M. at his residence in Oak Run, Dahinda, Illinois.

He was born on April 18, 1932 in Middletown, Illinois, the son of Charles "Les" and Mable Noon Henry.

He married Donna J. Stoehr on March 5, 1955 in the Methodist Church in Pekin, Illinois.

She survives of Oak Run, Dahinda, Illinois.

Also surviving are:

Sons: David (Celia) Henry of Topeka, Illinois, Doug Henry of Peoria, Illinois, Dennis Henry of Oak Run, Dahinda, Illinois, Darren (Ann) Henry of Peoria, Illinois and Dean (Jasmine) Henry of Peoria, Illinois

Daughter: Debra (Steve Doyle) Henry of Washington, Illinois

23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, six step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and foster children whom he enjoyed

Brothers: Bill (Carol) Henry of Bloomington, Illinois and Robert (Joan) Henry of Creve Coeur, Illinois

Sister: Phyllis Davis of Sandwich, Illinois

Preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Dale and Daniel; three brothers: Roy, Charles and Ben and one sister: Lois

He was raised and educated in Middletown and Forest City, Illinois graduating from Forest City High School in 1950. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois for one year in accounting.

He served in the United Stated Army as a clerk during the Korean War.

He worked as a clerk and trainmaster for the Rock Island Railroad in Peoria, Illinois for 27 years; CSX Agent in Ottawa, Illinois and retired from TP & W Railroad in 1994 after 48 years.

He also farmed in the Brimfield, Illinois area.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Middletown, Illinois.

He was very active in the Brimfield American Legion Post #452 where he was a lifetime member and past commander; lifetime member of the VFW Post #1232 in Pekin, Illinois; Chautauqua Sportsman Club of Topeka, Illinois. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, animals and attending auctions.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Brimfield American Legion Hall in Brimfield, Illinois. Rev. Don Blazing officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Brimfield American Legion Hall in Brimfield, Illinois.

Burial in Brimfield Cemetery in Brimfield, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Brimfield American Legion Post #542.
