|A. Melvin Bragd, 93, of Monmouth died at 11:54 A.M. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.
He was born June 12, 1916 in Monmouth the son of Karl and Edith (Stark) Bragd. He was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School.
Melvin served with the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
Melvin worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for Axel Ahlstrand and John Sheridan. He also farmed and made violins. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his sister Frances Potratz of Monmouth along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Leonard Bragd and Kenneth Bragd.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 26, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Keith Killinger of the First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Friday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity or the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com.
