|June E. Danner, 86, of 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Dr., Galesburg, Ill. died at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Rosewood Care Center.
June was born on April 14, 1923 in Monmouth, Ill. to Percy S. and Pearl Norris Lipes. She married Wilfred Wayne Danner in Kahoka, Mo. on October 29, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1993.
She is survived by a son, Gregory Wayne Danner of Eagle Point, Ore.; two daughters, Gloria June (and Brad) Ator of Farmington, Utah and Kara Beth Johnston of Wataga, Ill.; one brother, David Lipes of the Quad Cities; one sister, Mary Arthur of Colorado; eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
June worked at many restaurants in Monmouth and dress shops in Galesburg for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She also cared for children. During World War II she worked at the Rock Island Arsenal.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Galesburg where she was active on the nominating committee and choirs. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a 1939 graduate of Monmouth High School.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Astoria, Ill.
