Miller, Regena
Regena L. Miller, 88, of Monmouth, died at 2:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Monmouth Nursing home, Monmouth.

Regena was born in Pike County on March 9, 1922, the daughter of E. Reta and John W. Howard. She married Howard G. Miller on Oct. 10, 1940.

She was reared and educated in Kirkwood and Monmouth Schools, and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1940. She worked for many years as a secretary at Foreman & Company, and the Warren County Farm Bureau in Monmouth. She also served as the Social Activities Director at Monmouth Nursing Home.

An avid painter, Regena often exhibited her work at the Warren County Fall Festival and Spoon River Drive. She was a talented seamstress, harmonica and piano player, and had a lifelong love of fishing at Lake Warren. She loved all animals, in particular her cat Tear Drop. Many people will remember Regena for her infectious laugh.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years; daughter, Linda J. Edwards of Westport, Conn., son Gary H. Miller (Mary Jo Hunter) of Chesterfield, Mo., and daughter, Rhonda K. Miller of Lewisburg, Pa. Also surviving are one sister, Rosemary Husted of Quincy; grandchildren Sara Asuncion (Tony) of Bethesda, Md., Jeffrey Miller (Jodi) of Columbia, Il., Amanda Driol (Daniel) of St. Louis, Mo., Mark Edwards (Megan) of Chicago, Il., eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Elliott of Monmouth.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends my call on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, where her family will be present from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Monmouth Nursing Home, Harbor Light Hospice, or the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth.
