|Daniel Charles "Double D" Dare, 52 of RR Avon, died at 1:00 am Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Avon.
He was born on June 18, 1958 in Canton, the son of Bernard and Carol Dene (Foster) Dare. He married Katherine Louise Kjellander on October 1, 1978 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church.
Dan is survived by his wife, Kathy; one daughter, Michelle Karisa Dare and one son, Eric Daniel Dare both at home; his parents, Bernard and Carol Dene Dare of Abingdon; one brother, David F. Dare of Avon and a nephew, Dylan F. Dare of Avon.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1976 and was in football, FFA, 4-H and choir. He also sang in the choir at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Abingdon Jaycees, the Avon Lions Club, the Avon Summer Ball Board, the Avon EMT/First Responders, the Avon Fire Department, the Avon Businessmen Association and was an ITPA (Illinois Tractor Pulling Association) judge. He served as a volunteer for the John Deere Classic the past two years. He also served on the Knox County Fair Board tractor pulling committee.
He enjoyed tractor-pulling, hunting wild turkey and deer, and fishing. He also enjoyed helping coach and watching his kids play sports, along with watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
He was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church.
He was a farmer and semi-truck driver.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Dinges will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before the service on Saturday at the church. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel and Corman Memorial Home in Avon are assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for his children.
