McGill, Richard D.
Richard D. McGill, 57, of East Galesburg, died at 12:16 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born April 18, 1954 in Beardstown, Ill. the son of Richard "Dick" and Joan Hart McGill Sr. He married Kristine Reed on January 21, 2002 in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kristine Kris; his father, Richard Dick (and JoAnn) McGill Sr. of Goldon, Ill.; his mother, Joan McGill of Beardstown; three daughters, Joy Salsman of Galesburg, Carrie (and Rob) Armstrong of Monmouth, Ill., and Molly McGill of Galesburg; two sons, Austin (and Jessica) McGill of Chicago and Brett (and Ashley) McGill of Kirkwood, Ill.; a step-son, Rob (and Roni) Bern of Rock Island, Ill.; a sister, Karen (and Joe) Small of Raymond, Ill.; two brothers, Larry (and Sue) McGill of Edina, Minn. and Terry (and Cindy) McGill of Frisco, Texas; his mother-in-law, Dorothy I. Reed of Toulon, Ill.; six grandchildren, Easton and Payton Salsman, Aiden and Brady Armstrong, and Krya and Darius McGill; and two step-granddaughters, Chalen and Callie Bern. Ric was preceded in death by all his grandparents and one step-son, Timothy Bern.

Ric was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as Lead Carman. He received a BNSF Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution Supporting BNSFs Vision and Values in 2008. Ric was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed his "Matlock" TV shows during his illness and the companionship of his dog, Harley.
Ric requested his corneas be donated for corneal transplants as part of his belief of life giving ministry to others.

Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Wier officiating. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund in Rics name at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
