Warren E. "Sie" Bailey, 87 of 742 Phillips St., Galesburg, died 12:57 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born March 15, 1924 in Fulton County, Ill. to Oliver and Mabel Stecher Bailey. He married Mary Curtis June 20, 1947 in Rock Island, Ill. She preceded him in death November 13, 2005.
Surviving is a brother Elmer Bailey of Wilmington, Ill., three sisters, Vera Williamson of Monmouth, Ill., Naomi Tedrow of Fairfield, Iowa and Patsy (and Charlie) Dilts of Ellisville, Ill and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Warren worked for Bixby-Zimmer in Galesburg as a laborer for over 27 years and retired in 1989. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran from 1943 to 1946. He served on the USS Indiana as a Seaman 2nd Class. Warren was of the Methodist faith.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Graveside committal service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, Ill with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
