|Rev. Charles Leo Krueger, 87 of Rio, Ill. died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born October 24, 1924 in St. Louis County, Mo. the son of Carl and Frieda Brown Krueger. He married Marchie Brooks in University City, Mo. on January 7, 1949. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William (Toni) Krueger of Rio, Ill. and Robert (Brenda) Krueger of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren, William, Christopher and Caroline; and three great grandchildren, Dylan, Logan and Steve. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
He served in the US Army from 1943-1946 as a Sgt. in the 71st Infantry Division during World War II.
Charles served as a Presbyterian minister for 47 years, serving churches in several states and last serving the Rio Presbyterian Church. He retired January 1, 1990. He graduated from University City High School in University City, Mo. in 1942. He then graduated from Maryville College in Tenn. in 1950 with his bachelors degree and later graduated from Louisville Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity in 1953. He was a member of the Presbytery of Great Rivers. He was a member of the Civitan.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Rio Presbyterian Church. Rev. Maura McGrath Nagle will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Rio Presbyterian Church or to the Marigold Health Care Center. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
