|Betty Lou (Kennedy) Mayor, age 76, Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 5:18 P.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on January 20, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Rolland and Willie L. Paris Kennedy. She was raised by her father Rolland and step mother Betty Lee Kennedy.
She was married to Harry Mayor, Charles Wallis and Donald Campbell.
She was the mother of Tammila (Tami) Mayor) Johnson, Mother-in-Law of William A. Johnson; Grandmother to Jessie Mayor, John Paul Johnson and Kelsey Lane Johnson; Great-Grandmother to Wyatt Patrik Mayor and Hailey Mitchell Johnson. She helped raise her nephew Tommy Conne' and had a very special daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Campbell) Krause.
She was the sister of Diana (Jesse) Pacheco and David Coffey. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Carol Walker and Mary Jane Smith.
Betty graduated from Galesburg Senior High School and Western Illinois University. She Attended Brown's Business College, and the University of Michigan. Throughout her life she was an Elementary School Teacher, a Social Worker and Case Manager at the former Galesburg Mental Health Center, before retiring from Zeller Mental Health in 1998.
Cremation Rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation or funeral per her request. Betty requests all friends remember her with a silent toast and a fond memory.
