|Dorothy Daye (McGinness) McCullough, age 94 of Lewistown and formerly of Abingdon and Licking, Missouri, died at 9:44 am Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.
She was born on July 17, 1917 in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Reason L. and Mabel (Wilson) McGinness. She married John Dean McCullough on December 31, 1937 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jimmie Dean McCullough, six sisters including her twin sister, Doris Draper, and three brothers.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Carol Jean Cozad of Lewistown and Shirley Maxine Beavon of Lomax; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Leroy McGinness of Maryville, Missouri.
She grew up in Maryville, Missouri and later moved to Abingdon where she worked at the Blue Bell Factory for 23 years. She and her husband then moved to Licking, Missouri area in March of 1966. She worked at the Lee Overall Factory in Houston Missouri for 13 years retiring in June of 1979. She was a former member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Abingdon and attended the Lewistown United Methodist Church the past 12 years.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Deryck Sonaram of the Lewistown United Methodist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
