McKeown, Lynn O.
Mr. Lynn O. McKeown, 73, of Galesburg died 3:50 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born August 26, 1939 in Monmouth, Ill. to William Lester and Minnie Orwig McKeown. He married Patricia Hroziencik December 15, 1984 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are two step daughters, Lori (and Bryan) Elliott of Canton, Ill. and Tammy (and Joel) Ferguson of Indianapolis, Ind., a step son, Todd (and Annette) Friend of Galesburg, two sisters, Kathy (and Murrel) Hollis of Bushnell and Ann (and David) McIntyre of Roseville, Ill., four step grandchildren and nieces and nephews, Samatha McIntyre and Angela McIntyre (Clark Stull) of Roseville, Becky (and Ken) Ropp and Leah of Normal, Ill., Bill (and Brigit) Hollis and Bailey and Ben of Hamilton, Ill. and Rich (and Gail) Hollis and Zac and Ty of Columbia, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father Ray Kettering.

Lynn served as a librarian at the Warren County Library, Western Illinois Library System and the Galesburg Public Library. He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1957. He later graduated from Monmouth College and received his Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn. He was of the Methodist faith. Lynn was an avid bird watcher taking part in the yearly bird counts around Galesburg. He was also an accomplished writer who enjoyed writing for various local newspapers including the former Zepher and the former Galesburg Planet. He was also a musician with various bands including the Rootabaga Jazz Band.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Ray and Joyce Clark will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
