|Yvonnette Indelicato, 87, 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 12:52 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born February 9, 1923 in Melbourne, Australia, the daughter of Richard and Ethel Atterbury Mason. She married Joseph Indelicato on November 28, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1988.
She is survived by a son, Alan (and Sue) Indelicato of Galesburg, three daughters, Patricia Lansing of Galesburg, Joanne Sandy of Davenport, Iowa, and Anne Marie (and Keith) Hix of Cumming, Ga., nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and four step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Yvonnette was born and raised in Melbourne and moved to Galesburg in 1946. Her husband owned and operated Joe The Tailor & Cleaners in Galesburg and she helped him there, retiring in 1992. She graduated from East Kamberwell Girls School in Melbourne in 1937. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and attended Harmony and Bethany Baptist Churches.
Yvonnette was a member of Alpha Iota Sorority and the Oliver Wendell Holmes Club. She bowled for many years at Northgate Lanes and was a volunteer for New Horizons Senior Center. During World War II, she performed concerts for the troops and public.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
