|Leonard F. "Lenny" Gorski, age 81, of Oak Run, Dahinda, Illinois died on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2:28 A.M. at his Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on August 24, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Leon and Genevieve Kaczmarek Gorski.
He married Anna Mae Mercer on February 3, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois.
She survives of Oak Run, Dahinda, Illinois.

Sons: Thomas (Patricia) Gorski of Dahinda, Illinois, William (Kathy) Mercer of Glen Ellyn, Illinois and Mark (Dianna) Mercer of Hickory Hills, Illinois
Daughters: Lenore (Al) Opel of Plainfield, Illinois, Gail (Mike) Edgerton of Lily Lake, Illinois and Maureen (Victor) Mahnesmith of Gilson, Illinois
Several grandchildren and great great grandchildren
Brothers: Robert (Elenore) Gorski of Crown Point, Indiana and Edward (Judy) Gorski of Bolingbrook, Illinois
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Joseph Gorski and one son: John Mercer
He was raised and educated in Chicago, Illinois attending Tilton School.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from June 8, 1951 until March 9, 1953. He received the Korean and UN Service Medals.
He was a truck driver.
He was a member of the Dahinda United Methodist Church.
He helped organize the Oak Run First Responders; was chairman of the Oak Run Safety Committee and was instrumental in obtaining the weather sirens in Oak Run.
He served on the Knox County Board for American Cancer Society; Man to Man Program with the American Cancer Society UsTOO Support Group for Prostate Cancer Survivors.
He enjoyed his kids and grandkids.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Randy Douglass officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Entombment in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Galesburg, Illinois with Military Rites conducted by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 of Galesburg, Illinois.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dahinda United Methodist Church in Dahinda, Illinois with Fellowship following the services at the church.
