|Margaret E. Carley, 90, of 2345 N. Seminary St., Galesburg died at 9:34 a.m. Wednesday March 3, 2010 in Seminary Manor.
She was born January 2, 1920 in Warren County, Ill. the daughter of Nathan C. and Margaret E. Grier Ranney. She married Raymond D. Carley in Galesburg on January 6, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2002. She also had a daughter, Phyllis Arnold, who preceded her in death February 19, 1993, and an infant son.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann (Lee) Nurrie of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Kathleen (Robert) Olsen of Maitland, Fla.; two sisters, Martha Sandona of Keokuk, Iowa and Nellie Saravalli of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; one great grandchild and three step grandsons.
She worked as a cashier for 25 years and later managed a resort motel in Michigan for 25 years. She retired September 1981. She has lived in Galesburg since 1986. She graduated from Seaton High School in 1937 and Browns Business College in 1938. She was a member of the OAKS and the Lombard Unit of Home Extension. She was a member and a volunteer of the First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
