Neal, Oscar F.
Oscar F. Neal, 93, of Monmouth died at 9:50 P.M. Friday, February 26, 2010 at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.

He was born Aug. 21, 1916 in Abingdon, VA the son of Wiley and Maude (Simmons) Neal. His family moved to Kirkwood when Oscar was 3 years old. He graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1934.

Oscar married Eva Louise Oaks in Palmyra, MO on March 11, 1940 and she died Oct. 14, 1999.

He served with the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre.

Oscar was a carpenter/contractor owning and operating Oscar Neal Construction beginning in 1955 until he retired in 1978.

Oscar loved talking about and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved playing golf, gardening and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was a member of the Heritage United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth where he served as a Trustee and Elder. He was also a member of the Monmouth American Legion.

Survivors include his 3 sons, Dr. Stephen Neal and Lowell (Rose) Neal both of Monmouth, Dr. Trevor (Christine) Neal of South Bend, IN; 3 daughters, Gloria (Gil) Salazar of Elizabeth, CO, Carol(Dennis) McCrery of Monmouth and Kathleen O'Brien of Aledo, 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; sister, Edith Johnson ; bother, Donald Neal; 2 sister in laws, Evelyn Neal and Dollie Neal; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Heritage United Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Irwin officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the church or Strom Center in Monmouth. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth is in charge of the local arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com.
