Hodges, Leroy Dean "Moose"
Leroy Dean "Moose" Hodges, age 80, of Delong, Illinois died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on October 22, 1929 in Dahinda, Illinois, the son of Hubert and Gladys Lechleider Hodges.

He married June Rose Olin on October 30, 1952 in Burlington, Iowa.

She preceded him in death on August 17, 2004.

Surviving are:

Sons: Russell Hodges of Galesburg, Illinois, Randall (Rita) Hodges of East Galesburg, Illinois and Thomas Hodges of Delong, Illinois.

Three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Sisters: Guynith Lunberg of Oneida, Illinois, Doris Keeney of Thornfield, Missouri, Verla Wexell of Galva, Illinois and Inez Miller of Burlington, Iowa

Preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister: Ila Olin, one brother: Gerald Hodges and one granddaughter.

He was raised and educated in Williamsfield, Illinois.

He served in the United States Army from October 12, 1948 until June 26, 1952 during the Korean War.

He worked at Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois from 1947 until 1982, except for the time spent in the Army, and retired in 1982. After his retirement, he was groundskeeper at Happy Hollow Lake in Williamsfield, Illinois.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Abingdon, Illinois.

He was a member of Laborers International Union of North America Local 538 in East Galesburg, Illinois for 66 years.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Rick Smith officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Knoxville, Illinois. Burial in the Gilson Cemetery in Gilson, Illinois.
