Corbin, Jacqueline P.
Jacqueline P. Corbin, 85, of Alexis died at 12:05 A.M. Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

She was born Nov. 5, 1924 in Alexis, IL the daughter of Ivan and Ruby (Swanson) Frye. She was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1942.

Jackie married William Laughead and later married Guy Corbin in 1951 and he died in 1978.

Jackie worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during WWII making gun sights for the M1 rifle. She later went to beauty school and owned and operated Jackie's Beauty Shop in Alexis for over 30 years. She also served on the Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance Service as an EMT.

She was an avid bowler and an excellent Bridge player with the Delta Ace Bridge Club in Alexis.

She was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Michael Laughead of South West Ranches, FL; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Lydon of Doylestown, PA and Charles Michael Laughead of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 2 great grandchildren, Sara Laughead and James Lydon; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Barbara Moore.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Sat. March 27, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where her family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
