|Maxine E. Palmer, 95, of 705 N. Monroe St, Abingdon, died at 9:13 pm Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born on November 28, 1914 in Abingdon to Haney and Mabel (Wiles) Richey. She married Vinton Bredwell in 1936 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Eugene E. Palmer on February 14, 1969 in Abingdon. Gene preceded her in death on March 4, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, one granddaughter, one sister and three brothers.
Maxine is survived by a daughter, Marlene Harden in California; two sons, Floyd (and Rose) Palmer and Hollis (and Carol) Palmer all of Abingdon; a sister, Betty Sharp of Florida; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and had also lived in California. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1933. She worked at the Blue Bell Manufacturing in Abingdon. She also worked as a waitress while living in California. She was a member of Congregational Church in Abingdon. She was a member of the Abingdon Garden Club; she loved her outdoor flowers and enjoyed decorating her home.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Hollis Palmer will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
