Peterson, Grace Emily Ekstrom
Grace Emily Ekstrom Peterson, 88, of 311 E. Simmons St. Galesburg died at 1:00 PM Tuesday March 30, 2010 in Cottage Hospital.

She was born April 22, 1921 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Samuel Peter and Grace Evelyn Peterson Ekstrom. She married Marc Edward Peterson on June 6, 1946 in Rockford, IL. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2009.

She is survived by a son John M. (Jane) Peterson of Evanston, IL; a daughter Martha (David) Behymer of Rushville, IL; three grandchildren Joshua Peterson, Mark (Amanda) Behymer and Eric (Ashley) Behymer and three great grandchildren Westen, Aeson, and Addyson Behymer. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

She first worked as a Graphic Artist in Rockford, IL for several years. She later worked as a kindergarten and pre-school teacher at the Covenant Church. She graduated from Rockford High School. She attended Rockford College and Bob-Jones University. She graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago. Grace was a member of the Covenant Church. She was a member of the Covenant Women Fellowship, the Building Committee of the church, Board of Christian Formation, the church and Bell choir, Church Women United, she taught Sunday school and was on the Diaconate Board. She was a former member of the Lake Bracken Country Club and the Galesburg Study Club. She enjoyed making and selling crafts in Bishop Hill and Galesburg. She also made and painted greeting cards for many years.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday April 5, 2010 at the Covenant Church. The Rev. Thomas Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 AM Monday at the church. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
