Allen, Darrell
Darrell D. Squeak Allen, 57, of Humble, Texas formerly of Galesburg, Ill. died at 12:32 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Houston, Texas.

He was born Mach 4, 1953 in Peoria, Ill. the son of Gerald D. Allen and Edna Ruth Guenther. He married Jane Ellison in Galesburg, in 1972. She survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Racheal (Francis) McKillip and two grandsons, Joel and Brian McKillip, who he cherished, all of Galesburg, sisters, Sue Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Sandy Miksch of Katy, Texas, Lynn (Craig) Unrath and Lori (Jim) Gilbertson, both of Knoxville, Ill., brothers, Mike (Sandy) Hammes of Coralville, Iowa, Gary Smoke Allen of Knoxville, Randy Allen of Marion, Ill., and Scott (Kim) Guenther of Pearland, Texas. Also surviving is his step father, Howard E. Guenther of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Matthew Allen, his parents, and a brother, Steve Hammes.

He served in the US Army as a paratrooper, with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Darrell worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad from 1972 to 1991. He was also a personal contractor for several years.

He enjoyed music and especially playing the drums with his friends, riding his Harley Davidson and fishing. Another hobby that he excelled at was golfing, where he shot two holes in one. While playing in a golf tournament he shot a hole in one and won a seven day golf vacation.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to an education fund for his grandchildren. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
