Brown, C. Lyle
C. Lyle "Brownie" Brown, 76, of Monmouth, died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born May 8, 1934 in rural Keithsburg, the son of Chester L. and Gladys M (Cole) Brown. He was raised and educated in Keithsburg.

Lyle married Doris H. Heath on August 7, 1955 in Keithsburg and she preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2004.

He was a Tool and Die Machinist for over 30 years at OMC Gale Products until 1983, he then worked at Quad City Engineering and then at Maytag in Galesburg until retiring. He enjoyed going to auctions, day trip traveling, family, friends, monthly dinners, car shows, visiting historical businesses and building within the area. He also made toys for family and friends.

His family includes his daughter, Pam (Don) Jern of Oquawka and son, Randy (Diane) Brown of Monmouth; 5 grandchildren, Randi Brown of Galesburg, Carrie Brown of Knoxville, Josh Brown of Galesburg, Corey Bjorling of Oneida and Chris Rabe of Oquawka, 7 great grandchildren, Kaleisha Mitchell, Tyree Mitchell, Drayden Mitchell, Alicia Brown, Andrew Bell, Aric Bell and Joslyn Brown, one sister, Doris Hutchcraft of Jacksonville, FL, two brothers, Fred Brown and Melvin Max Brown both of Ocala, FL and special friend and companion, Carole Knott of Galesburg. Along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and twin brother Charles Lester Brown.

Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 15. 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel Monmouth. Burial in Warren County Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday, March 14, 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where his family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
