Marshall, Okle Fay
Okle Fay Marshall, 97, formerly of Galesburg died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 in the McDonough District Hospital, Macomb, Ill.

She was born June 5, 1913 in Plymouth, Ill. the daughter of Lloyd Earl and Grace Blanch Kurry Downing. She first married Robert E. Ferguson on May 16, 1939. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1956. She later married Robert Marshall on February 14, 1959 in Galesburg, Ill. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1986.
She is survived by a step son, Robert D. Marshall of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a step daughter, Sandra (Gary) Evans of Galesburg; three nieces, Patricia Calvert of Rushville, Ill., Elaine (Pete) Ropenski of East Dundee, Ill., and Betty (Jim) Stevens of Augusta, Ill., a nephew, Larry (Kay) Downing of Augusta, Ill.; five step grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Harold Downing, Howard (Dutch) Downing and C.M. (Jack) Downing and a great nephew, Tony Downing.

Okle was the operating room supervising nurse and taught operating room technique to student nurses at Cottage Hospital for over 40 years. She retired in May of 1978. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1931 and Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. She later attended post graduate classes at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas. She was a Cottage Hospital Alumnae and member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She was a member of the Lake Bracken County Club. Okle enjoyed playing golf until she was 90 years of age.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
