Tonkin, Geraldine "Jeri"
Mrs. Geraldine L. (Jeri) Tonkin, 84, of 1405 Clark St., Galesburg, Ill. died 6:15 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2011.

She was born August 9, 1926 in Galesburg to Richard L. and Thelma Eleanor Clark Freeman. She married James T. Jim Tonkin August 31, 1946 at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. He preceded her in death March 17, 1983. She later married Donald Suydam August 23, 1986 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death December 2, 1997.

Surviving are two sons James R. (and Cathie) Tonkin of Plainfield, Ill. and Joseph G. (and Robin) Tonkin of Canton, Ill., two daughters Jean M. (and David) Bartak of Peoria, Ill. and Julie C. (and David) Radloff of Hutchinson, Minn., four sisters Patricia Hoyt of Galesburg and Kathleen (and Ed) England of Galesburg, Virginia Stone of Oquawka, Ill. and Nancy (and Larry) Martin of Colorado Springs, Colo., fourteen grandchildren, Jay Tonkin, Eric Tonkin, Jill (Tonkin) Larson, Amy (Thor) Spirrison, Angela (Thor) Schnobel, Paul Radloff, Peter Radloff, Eric Radloff, Holly Tonkin, Abby Tonkin, Maggie Tonkin, step grandchildren: Nicki (Bartak) Ragains, Lindsay Bartak and Allison Bartak, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild soon to be.

Jeri was a medical transcriptionist for twenty years working for Drs. Graham and Graham and Dr. Stachniw in Galesburg. She retired in 1985. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and attended Carl Sandburg College both in Galesburg. She was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Galesburg. She was a charter member of the Ladies of Mary. She was a Eucharistic Minister and was devoted to her church. She was a member of the Galesburg Womans Club and Railway Mail Clerks Auxiliary. She was an avid Bridge Player and enjoyed gardening. Jeri loved her home on Clark St. for sixty years. She was a strong and independent, spunky woman. She will be missed by all who loved her dearly while she was on this earth. Rest forever in peace Mother- we love you so.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzimiglio will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rosary being prayed at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
