Martin, Nancy
Nancy K. Martin, 73, of 1725 N. Seminary Street, Galesburg, Ill. died 8:22 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at her daughters home in Marana, Arizona.

Nancy, the daughter of Robert E. Miner and Bessie Baker Miner, was born March 4, 1938 in Peoria, Ill. After spending most of her youth in Rock Island, Ill., she moved to Galesburg in1959. She married John D. Martin on January 4, 1959 in Rock Island.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheri (and J. Todd) Henderson of Marana, Ariz., a son, Robert (and Maureen) Martin of New York City, N.Y., and grandchildren Austin and Abbie Henderson, two brothers Gary (and Helen) Miner of Rock Island, Ill. and their children Randy Miner, Gregory Miner, Allison (Sean) Letts and brother Stephen Miner of Cocoa, Fla., and sister Melba (and Ray) Myers of Rock Island and their children Jeff (Kathy) Myers, Jill (Jay) Litterer, Eric (Christine) Myers. Also surviving are special brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Alice) Martin of Millersburg, Ind., Earl (Jean) Martin of Galesburg, and Harold (Janet) Griffin of Galesburg, many nieces and nephews and special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy graduated from Rock Island High School in 1956. She worked as a secretary at the Maytag Corporation for 10 years. She then worked as the Secretary to the President of Associated Bank in Galesburg for 27 years. Her last position was as an Office Manager for Swing Enterprises for 13 years.

Nancy was a member and organist of the Bethel Baptist Church and served on the Attendance and Communion Committees. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries International.

Nancy loved her family, their vacations together, and their many special times together. She loved that her grandchildren spent summers with her. Nancy leaves many friends behind who will miss her lovely smile at their many lunches and get-togethers. She is entrusted to the Lord, but will be missed by many.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church, Galesburg. Rev. Todd Henderson and Rev. Lee Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.
