|James E. "Jim" Miller, 73, of 309 S. Main St., Abingdon, died at 3:32 pm Monday, March 28, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
He was born on October 2, 1937 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Edward James and Violet (Rose) Miller. He married Betty J. Powell on June 12, 1960 in Elkton, Kentucky. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pam (and Gary) Booker of Lisle and Lesley (and Donnie) Williams of Seneca; a son-in-law, Kenny Adams in Indiana; four grandchildren, Tabatha Adams, Eric Booker, Tyler and Spencer Williams; three sisters, Erma Carlson of Monmouth, Edna Derry of Monmouth and Linda Cozad of Alexis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lisa Adams.
Jim attended Galesburg High School. He served in the Army with the 101st Airborne Division and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He had lived in Abingdon since 1989 and prior to that had lived in Downers Grove. He was a truck driver for Anderson Trucking of St. Cloud, Minnesota for over 20 years. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, was a member of the Abingdon Road Knights Car Club and enjoyed Hot Rods.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of his life will begin at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Abingdon American Legion Post #381.
