Page, John
John Leroy Page, 80, of Galesburg, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2011 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born September 22, 1930 in Galesburg, the son of Robert L. and Violet E. Ekstrom Page. He married Betty J. Herington in 1954 in Galesburg.

He is survived by a son, Stephen C. Page of Fairfield, Iowa, two daughters, Charlotte (and Michael) Flanagan of Houston, Texas, and Edith Agan of Brooklyn Park, Minn., three grandchildren, Andrew, Sean and Josh Agan and three brothers, Robert Dale (Betty) Page of Peoria, Ill., Lloyd (Nancy) Page of OFallion, Mo, and George Page of Knoxville, Ill; two nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was an industrial administrator for Alcoa Aluminum of America for 36 years, retiring in 1990. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948 and received his bachelors degree from St. Ambrose University in 1961. He was of the Methodist faith and also attended the Unitarian Church, where he sang in the choir. John was a Mason, belonging to lodges in Bettendorf, Iowa, Eldridge, Iowa, and Galesburg. He lived in Bettendorf for many years before returning to Galesburg in 2000.

John served with the United States Army Artillery 40th Infantry during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

Cremation was accorded. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Masonic Rites by Alpha Masonic Lodge. Graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. S.C. Page officiating and Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
