|Betty J. Rose, 85, of Galesburg, died at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born October 6, 1925 in Galesburg, the daughter of Theodore and Faye Wenzel Roberts. She married Fred M. Rose on August 30, 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1981.
She is survived by two daughters, Peg (and Gary) Etheridge of Galesburg and Sharon (and Bob) Angelo of Moline, Ill., three grandchildren, Stacy Phillips, Marcy Bettisworth St. George, and Michael Angelo, six great grandchildren, and a sister, Margaret Mosley of Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ted Roberts and a great granddaughter, Paige Phillips on May 14, 2004.
Betty attended Galesburg High School and was a homemaker. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years, served on the church board, and assisted with Vacation Bible School. When her daughters were at home, Betty was a Girl Scout troop leader.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Daniel Siems will officiate. There will be no visitation.
