Lois Eileen Elias, 93, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, formerly of Galesburg and Canton, died at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 in the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born August 21, 1917 in Galesburg, Ill., the daughter of Gus and Mary Edna Custer Wilk. She married Robert J. Elias on June 13, 1937 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2010.
She is survived by a son, Robert W. (and Cathy) Elias of Durham, N.C., two daughters, Mary Jo (and Doug) Ruhl of Abingdon and Sue Ann Elias of Bradley, Ill., eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a great-granddaughter.
She was a homemaker. She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1935. She and Robert moved to Canton, Ill. and lived there for 61 years before returning to Galesburg in 1998. While living in Canton, she was a member of the Christian Church and attended First Baptist Church of Galesburg since 1998. She enjoyed artistic painting and making hook rugs
