James M. Moore Jr., 58, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:58 PM at St Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
Jim was born January 19, 1954 in Rock Island, Illinois the son of James and Willa Deane "Deanna" Jenkins Moore, Sr.
Surviving are his parents of Knoxville, one sister Paula (Jim) Knox of Galesburg, Illinois, one nephew Jeffrey Knox of Galesburg, Illinois, and a special friend Karen Hatfield of Galesburg, Illinois. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jim was preceded by his grandparents.
A 1972 graduate of Knoxville High School, Jim received his associates degree from Carl Sandburg College. While in high school, he was active in the orchestra and served as the manager for the football and basketball programs. He enjoyed attending concerts, spending time with family, playing board games, and listening to gospel music. He was an avid Bears fan and enjoyed watching wrestling. Jim was especially proud of recently earning 25 years of sobriety. He never knew a stranger, and his kindness and compassion will be missed by many. Jim was an organ donor who was able to provide the gift of sight.
Funeral services will be on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Burial will take place at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Sarah Parker will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, Illinois.
