Johnson, Thomas Daniel, Jr.
Thomas Daniel "Tim" Johnson, Jr., age 60 of 406 N. Austin Ave., Abingdon, died at 1:25 am Friday, March 9, 2012 at his home.

He was born May 26, 1951 in Monmouth, the son of Thomas Daniel and Lucy Pearl (Starkey) Johnson, Sr. He married Leona E. Simpson Nelson on October 31, 1970 in Abingdon. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Diana (and Craig) James of Abingdon, Candi Johnson of Kewanee, Amie (and Ethan) Beadles of Galesburg, Thomas D. "Tim" Johnson III of Abingdon, Jeremiah (and Genny) Johnson of Oneida and family friend, Carrie Miller of Abingdon; 12 grandchildren, Zachary Romero, Mackenzie James, Phillip Johnson, Jacob and Sara Timberlake, Andrew, Danielle and JoAnna Beadles, Dayana Peck, Daniel and Riley Johnson and Halie Johnson; one great-grandson, Tyler Johnson; his mother, Lucy Johnson of Abingdon; his siblings, Michael (and Patti) Johnson of Abingdon, James (and Vicky) Johnson of Abingdon, Virginia (and John) OReilly of Abingdon, Craig (and Kathy) Johnson of Alexis, Phyllis "PJ" Skinner of Dunlap, Christy (and Todd) OHalleran of Iowa, and Steve (and Sky) Johnson of Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Patricia Harlan.

He attended Abingdon schools and obtained his GED while he served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a caster at the former Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon for 27 years. He later worked for Crop Production Service for 9 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, doing anything in the great outdoors. He loved to plant a garden and he took a lot of pride in his tomatoes and watermelon.

As Tim requested, cremation will be accorded. The family will celebrate his life on his birthday, May 26th at the family home, 406 N. Austin Ave. in Abingdon. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
