|Elizabeth M. Morrissey, 91, formerly of Oneida, Ill. died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 in Marigold Health Care Center.
Elizabeth was born December 10, 1920 in Galesburg, Ill., the daughter of Thomas and Florence Eastburg Poole Sr. She married Harry DeWitt Morrissey on April 18, 1942 in New Bern, N.C. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1981.
She is survived by a son, Andrew DeWitt (and Sue) Morrissey of Oneida, Ill.; special dog, Oliver; five grandchildren, Teri Ann (and Charles) Daly and Mike (and Angie) Morrissey, whom she raised, and Sherry (and Dave) Cook, Tony Morrissey, and Tammy (and Paul) Miller; 19 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Poole Jr. in 2006.
Elizabeth was raised in Galesburg and attended Galesburg High School, graduating in 1938. In 1971 she and Harry moved to Oneida. She was a homemaker and loved knitting, reading and crocheting.
Elizabeth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Association. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
