Maurine G. Thompson, age 92 of rural Gilson, Illinois died at 1:15 A.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on Mach 3, 1920 in Linneus, Missouri. She married Kenneth Orville Thompson on June 3, 1939 in Brookfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1979.
Surviving are two daughters: Lola (Ellis) Luster of Burnett, Wisconsin and Cheryl Thompson of rural Gilson, Illinois. Two granddaughters, Ellen (Randy) Plott of Alabama, Karla (Dean) Schultz of Wisconsin, one great grandson, one great granddaughter and one great-great-grandson.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers.
She worked as a custodian, cook and teachers aid at the former Delong School until it closed. She then worked for the Knoxville Junior High until she retired. She loved working with children.
She enjoyed cooking and reading.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Haynes Cemetery in Rural Delong, Illinois. Rev. Sue Bryce Officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
