Hohner, Paul
Paul Hohner, 88, a long time resident of Galesburg, Ill. and most recently of Copperas Cove, Texas, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2012. Paul was the sixth of ten children born to his parents, Frederick and Lena Mueller Hohner of Hannibal, Mo. He married Helen White, his love for 67 years, January 23, 1945. He was the father of Gary Hohner of Copperas Cove, Texas, Joyce Thomas of Belen, N.M., Frederick Hohner (deceased) and Greg Hohner of Groveland, Ill. He will also be lovingly missed by his daughters-in-law, Ann (Gary) Hohner, Jolene (Frederick) Moorehead, and Julie (Greg) Hohner. He is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren and three sisters, Bertha Mixer of Quincy, Ill., Annabelle Rhodes of Barry, Ill. and Kathy (William) Fanning of Fowler, Ill.

Paul was no stranger to hard work. He planted large gardens to provide produce for his family and worked long hours at various jobs to ensure his family was provided for. He worked for various manufacturing companies and 19 years in the maintenance department for Wilson Packing Plant in Monmouth, Ill. He served his church as a music leader, pianist and Sunday school teacher. People knew they could call on him for helping any way whether it was to build, replace, listen, or support. He left his family a heritage of a life lived for Christ, a good work ethic, a love for music and laughter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Ron Scarlett will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in his name to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries thru the First Church of the Nazarene in Galesburg.
