|Roberta Timmons McWilliams, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Maquon, Illinois, died at 10:45 P.M. on March 4, 2013 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois.
Roberta was born on November 28, 1921, in rural London Mills, Illinois the daughter of Glenn and Lucille Cooper Timmons. She spent her growing up years on the family farm south of London Mills and graduated in 1939 from London Mills High School. She married Rolland McWilliams on July 26, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. They spent most of their married life in Knox County. He preceded her in death.
They are the parents of one daughter, Rita Thompson Whaley, of Chester, Maryland. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Teresa Thompson of Little York, Illinois, Patrick (Charlynn) Thompson of Monmouth, Illinois and Paul (Breann) Thompson of Peoria, Illinois. Also surviving is one great granddaughter, one great grandson, two step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren; one sister: Joan Anderson, Moline, Illinois; two brothers: Edward (Virginia) Timmons, Canton, Illinois and Ralph (Madyline) Timmons, London Mills, Illinois. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Roberts attended Morse Beauty School in Galesburg and was a hairdresser for many years. She was a Certified Optician and retired from the Galesburg Clinic Optical Department in 1987. She was a member of the Orange Chapel United Methodist Church, and the former Maquon Good Cheer Club.
There will be a visitation at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois with a funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Susan Bryce will officiate. Interment will be at the Maquon Cemetery. A fellowship will follow the graveside service at the Maquon Methodist Church.
