|Charles Kent "Pete" Daniels, 62, of Galesburg died at 1:24 pm Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born December 16, 1950 in Mason City, Iowa the son of Edward Conley and Wanda Phillips. He married Sue Gilbert in Galesburg, Ill. on December 5, 1969.
He is survived by his children, Craig J. Daniels of Tallahassee, Fla., Carrie L. (Tyson) Walters of Knoxville, Ill and Technical Sergeant Amy L. Daniels stationed in Adana, Turkey; his sister, Judy Bonderson of Ely, Minn. and three grandchildren, Hank Charles and Riley Leann Walters and Hailey Lynn Daniels. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Shill.
Pete worked as an Engineering Technician for the City of Galesburg for 32 years, retiring in 2003. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1969. He played drums and sang in several bands at the Illinois Country Opry in Petersburg, Ill. and in the Galesburg area. He began playing at the age 15 with The Country Giants, he later played with the Mississippi Valley Boys, Midwest Express and Rambler Express. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #894. Pete enjoyed playing on the Tuesday night golf league at Oak Run. He was instrumental in organizing the Annual Chicken Wing Golf Tournament and the Dothan Alabama Golf Trip. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Friday, March 15, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Gary Gunther will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday evening at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Community Preschool, Guardian Angel Humane Society or Hospice Compassus. Online condolences may be at www.h-p-w.com
