Blust, Byron
Byron "Everett" Blust, on March 13, 2013, while surrounded by loving family members, God came for Everett Blust, 76, of rural Oneida. He was born on December 10, 1936 to Elmer and Buelah (Jones) Blust in Galesburg, Illinois.

He attended a one room school house at Trenton Corners and graduated from ROVA High School. While in high school he excelled in track and football. Everett was also active in FFA.

Everett married Delores "Dee" Lowery on August 28th, 1959 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Galesburg, by the Reverend Dale Caitlen and the brides Uncle the Reverend Thomas Lowery. She survives of Oneida. They were blessed with three children, Steve Blust, Galesburg, Dean (Jeanne) Blust, Monmouth and Kelly (Tim) Lafferty of LaHarpe.

Everett enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Jeremy (Tina) Blust, Wataga, Ashley (fiancé Dan Bushong) Blust, Monmouth, Michael and Brain Lafferty of LaHarpe, and great granddaughter's Molly and Maggie Blust of Wataga.

He worked at a local grain elevator and later attended Brown's Business College. After completing his college education he and his father Elmer Blust built and operated The Wataga Field Mill in Wataga for 20 years. Everett then sold The Wataga Field Mill and began working at Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg, where he worked for many years until his retirement.

Everett was a member of the Wataga Congregational Church, where he served as council President.

Over the years he enjoyed boating and snowmobiling with family and friends. Everett was an avid golfer and bowler. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildrens and great grandchildrens sporting events and musical performances.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville. Memorial Graveside Service will be held 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Wataga Cemetery in Wataga. Rev. David Kramer will officiate. Memorials may be made the Wataga Congregational Church in Wataga or Knox County Nursing Home. On-line condolences and sympathy cards may be sent through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
