|Kendal L. Myers, 58, of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon died at 10:55 pm Monday, April 5, 2010 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born on November 10, 1951 in Galesburg to Robert and Shirley (Cowan) Myers. He married Andrea Hook and they had two sons who survive Kendal, Chad (and Amber) Myers and son Brandon of Hopedale and Zachary (and Rachael) Myers (and baby girl on the way) of Peoria Heights.
Kendal is also survived by his companion of many years, Karen Schwieter and her family, Michael (and Joyce) Schwieter and daughter Becca, son Thomas of Gilson, Christine Marie (and Jim) Peterson of Galesburg and Mark (and Jenny) Schwieter and son Jacob and daughter Molly of Galesburg; one sister, Karen (and Dave) Tabb of Abingdon; one brother, Keith (and Sherry) Myers of Galesburg and a niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He grew up in Knoxville and later moved to Abingdon with his family in 1963. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1969 and studied auto mechanics at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. He worked at the Maytag factory in Galesburg for 20 years and he last worked as a cement truck driver for Lufkin-Schwieter Ready Mix in Galesburg. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, fishing, camping and going to racing events.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation.
