Mr. Claude "Babe" John, 94, of 2345 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL, died 5:55AM Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1915 in Centerville, Iowa to William and Claudine Tracy John. He married Edna M. Lock December 19, 1941 in Canton, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons Terry (and Carole) John of Davidson, N.C., Gary (and Trudy) John of Fairfield, Ohio, David (and Linda) John of Pekin, IL., Chris (and Cheryl) John of Galesburg and Mark (and Ronda) John of Galesburg, two brothers Floyd John of Burlington, Iowa and Donald John of Galesburg, 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, four brothers and two sisters.
Babe was a machinist for Outboard Marine Corporation, Gale Products Division in Galesburg for 30 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the I.A.M. Machinist Union. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Greg Fitch will officiate. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the chapel.
