|Frank Joseph Murphy, 80, 1011 Sunny Knoll Dr., Lake Bracken, Galesburg, Ill. formerly of Hinsdale, Ill. died at 9:00 PM Friday, April 16, 2010 at his home.
He was born on May 7, 1929 in Elizabeth, N.J. He married Jane G. Greve in Brookfield, Ill. on September 18, 1954. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Karen (Jerry) Brodine of Galesburg and Nancy Sudeikis of Brookfield, a son, F. Joseph Murphy of Hinsdale, Ill.; and two grandchildren Daniel and Ellen Sudeikis.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Al Sudeikis, two sisters Mary Maus and Patricia Stewart and a brother John Murphy
He graduated from Lyons Township High School LaGrange, Ill in 1947.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Frank received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star.
He worked as a construction engineer and consultant for Ameritech for 41 years, in the western suburbs of Chicago. He retired to Galesburg in 1994.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Church, the Korean War Veterans Association and the Hinsdale (Ill.) American Legion Post #250.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday April 22, 2010 at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Joseph Presley officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Military Rites by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 at 7:00 PM. Private family Inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date.
