Church, Jimmie C.
Jimmie C. "Jim" Church, 73, of 1061 Brown Ave., Galesburg, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at home.

He was born October 12, 1937 in Lebanon, Mo., the son of O.W. and Lula Burgett Church. He married Margaret H. Huddleston on August 16, 1958 in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, a son, Steven (and Tracy) Church of Evansville, Ind., two daughters, Penelope Penny Schalk and Melody (and Bob) Diehl, both of Galesburg, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Katie Gumble of Seattle, Wash., and Barbara (and Ed) Marquith and Christine (and Keith) Kuntz, both of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
Jim was a conductor for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of First Church of God. Jim enjoyed woodworking and gardening and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at First Church of God. Rev. Don Reynolds and Rev. Dennis McQuown will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Church of God or Joyful Noyz.
