Mrs. Shirley A. Swanson, 74, of 1384 N. Henderson St., Galesburg, Ill. died at 7:18 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born August 26, 1936 in Edgar County, near Charleston, Ill. to Dale and Ethel DeVall Glidewell.
Surviving are three daughters, Fritzi Piper of Morrison, Colo., Vicki Payne of Hawaii and Debbie (and Chuck) Courson of Galesburg; two brothers, Robert Glidewell of Georgetown, Ill. and Donny Glidewell of Mattoon, Ill.; six grandchildren, including Tiffany Payne whom she raised, and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Katrina Piper; and a sister, Loretta Moore.
Shirley was the manager of Montgomery Ward in Galesburg for several years. She graduated from Kansas High School, Charleston, Ill.
