Knox, Oren Marlyn
OREN MARLYN KNOX, age 89, of Maquon, Illinois died on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 9:25 A.M. at his residence.

He was born on March 16, 1922 in Humboldt, Iowa, the son of Oren A. and Fannie Katherine Love Knox.

He married Verna Marie Kemper on September 14, 1947 in Maquon, Illinois.

She preceded him in death on April 23, 2002.

Surviving are:

Sons: Vincent (Linda) Knox of Frostproof, Florida

Oren Bennie (Cheryl) Knox of Gilson, Illinois

Thomas L. (Mary Clare) Knox of Maquon, Illinois

Seven Grandchildren and Fifteen Great Grandchildren

Sister: Launa "Unie" Moshier of Canton, Illinois

Fern (George) Mitchell of Dumas, Texas

Iva D. Smith of Elmwood, Illinois

Brother: Raymond (Elaine) Knox of Avon, Illinois

Preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers: George and Walter; and one granddaughter: Lisa Marie Knox.

He was raised and educated in Kansas City, Missouri.

He served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific.

He worked as a fork lift truck driver at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, Illinois for over 30 years, retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.

Cremation Rites will be accorded.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at the Maquon Cemetery in Maquon, Illinois.

Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating.

There will be no Visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Maquon United Methodist Church or the Maquon Fire Department.

Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of arrangements.
