|James A. "Jim" McCall, 78, of Galesburg died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 at his home.
He was born September 18, 1932 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of George and Mabel Pratt McCall. He married Clara Frances Diehl on December 31, 1953 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2009.
Jim is survived by two sons, Michael McCall and Daniel McCall, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Shelley (Jeff) Boender of Gary, Ind. and Bonnie (Dave) Yeoman of Petersburg, Ill.; two sisters, Dorothy Morrison of Bartonville, Ill. and Wanda Marquis of Galesburg, Ill.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and a half sister.
He served in the US Army from 1952-1953.
He worked as an industrial engineer for Gale Products for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1950 and attended Western Illinois University. Jim was a member and served as post commander in 1972, for Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. He was a member of the Press Club and the Elks Lodge #894.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials may be made to the Center for Possibilities or to the Ralph M.
