|Carol E. (Simpson) Lewis, 77, of 305 E. South St., Abingdon, died at 4:10 pm Saturday, April 2, 2011 at her home.
She was born on April 18, 1933 in Abingdon, the daughter of Merle and Irma (Kilpatrick) Simpson. She married Robert "Bunk" Lewis on August 11, 1949 in Abingdon. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Marvin (and Marge) Lewis of Cameron and Merle (and Becky) Lewis of Abingdon; one daughter, Beverly (and Roger) Larson of RR Berwick; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Terry (and Janice) Simpson of Abingdon, Ed (and Marsha) Simpson of Abingdon and Billy Simpson of the state of Washington; two sisters, Cleta Boydstun of Abingdon and Joyce Fishel of Abingdon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Susan Watkins, three brothers, Roger Simpson, Gerald Simpson and Merle Simpson, and two sisters, Waneta Quinn and Carmen Thrasher.
Carol had lived in Abingdon all her life. She worked at the Admiral Factory in Galesburg and later at Abingdon Industries for several years. Her hobbies included painting with oil paints, gardening, reading, baking and spending time with family.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the chapel.
