|James W. Osborn, 73, of Gerlaw, IL, went to his final home on Resurrection Day at 11:05 P.M. Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his home - what a wonderful day to go home.
He was born August 5, 1937 in Warren County, IL., the son of Hobart and Lenora Ellen (Barnes) Osborn. He was raised and educated in Warren County and graduated from Alexis High School in 1956. Jim served several years with the Illinois National Guard.
He married Mary Stevens on Feb. 27, 1995 in Virginia and she survives.
Jim's passion in life was farming. He started farming as a toddler and continued to farm his whole life, the last 11 years with his son, Bryan Osborn and good friend Gary Wright.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth where he served as a deacon.
His family includes his wife; 4 children, Valerie (Dan) Faubion of Phoenix, AZ, Bryan (Keri) Osborn of Little York, IL, Paula (Lou) Contey of Chicago and Dustin(Autumn) Stevens of Monmouth and 7 grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the First Christian Church of Monmouth with Rev. James Epperson officiating. Burial will be in Gerlaw Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. on Wed. April 27, 2011 at the First Christian Church of Monmouth where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Monmouth. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
