Swanson, Norman C.
Norman C. Swanson, age 84, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 10:58 P.M. on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on April 21, 1926 in Oneida, Illinois, the son of Chester and Edna Frampton Swanson. He married Joyce Elaine Peterson in 1959 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2008.

Surviving are four sons, Michael Swanson of Colorado, Darrell Swanson of Galesburg, Illinois, Rodney Swanson of Peoria, Illinois and Kenneth Swanson of Galesburg, Illinois; two daughters, Linda of Quincy, Illinois and Teresa of Pontiac, Illinois; one stepson, Terry James of Knoxville, Illinois; many grandchildren; two brothers, Rex (Barb) Swanson of Andover, Illinois and David (Loretta) Swanson of Bartonville, Illinois; two sisters, Shirley Newburg of Moline, Illinois and Peggy Swanson of Knoxville, Illinois and his companion dog: "Pepe". He was preceded by his parents; wife; and three brothers.

He was raised and educated in Oneida, Illinois and served in the United States Air Force from 1941 until 1943. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for over 30 years. He was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post # 285 in Galesburg, Illinois where he was a member of the Honor Guard.

Cremation Rites will be accorded.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, Illinois with Military Rites conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post # 285 of Galesburg, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Family or the Knox County Humane Society. Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of arrangements.
