Pearson, Rosa J.
Rosa J. Pearson, 93, of Galesburg died at 12:22 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011 in Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Ill.

She was born March 20, 1918 in Galesburg, Ill. the daughter of Emil J. and Ellen E. Lindgren Johnson. She married Roy H. Pearson, Jr. on June 9, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2000.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo (Gary) Eklund of Gilson, Ill.; a brother, Clarence E. (Lynette) Johnson of Galesburg; her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Johnson of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Kristen M. Hollingsworth, Kevin Eklund and Kari Eklund and two great grandchildren, Isaiah Hollingsworth and Kaden Eklund. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Harold J. Johnson on September 21, 2010.

Rosa was a professional organist. She served as the organist for Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home and the Temple Sholom for over 50 years. She also played for Bethel Baptist Church and was a substitute organist for various churches in the area. She was a member of the SAI Musical Sorority, the American Guild of Organists, served on the board of the Harrington Home, member of the Galesburg Community Chorus, member of the Musicians and was a member of the PEO Chapter NK. She volunteered at Heartland Health Care Center and the Harrington Family Services and OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She was a member and was very active at Bethel Baptist Church. Rosa graduated from Galesburg High School and studied organ with Adeline Nelson Rosine.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Kirk Kendall will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Compassus or to the Knox County Nursing Home.
