Dwyer, Mary
Mary Agnes Moore Dwyer, 86, of Galesburg, Ill. died 6:11 p.m. Friday April 29, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

She was born January 6, 1925 in Warrensburg, Mo. to Charles C. and Agnes Murphy Moore. She married William E. Dwyer, Jr. June 25, 1949 in Overland Park, Kan. He preceded her in death August 12, 2002.

She leaves two daughters, Dr. Mary M. Dwyer (James Ahr), of Lake Forest, Ill. and Susan Eileen Dwyer of Brookline, Mass., a son William E. Dwyer, III (Christine) of Boxford, Mass. along with three grandchildren, Phillip Dwyer Schwarz, Jennifer Elle Dwyer and William E. Dwyer, IV. A sister Vivian Moore and two brothers, Charles C. Moore, Jr. and Donald James Moore precede her in death.

Mary graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1944 where she lived in Overland Park, Kan. She attended Missouri State Teachers College where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She worked for Postal Life and Casualty Insurance Company for four years in the Plaza, Kansas City, Mo. She moved to Galesburg in 1950 when her husband was transferred with Butler Manufacturing Company.

She was a past member of Lake Bracken Country Club, Lake Lawn Swim and Tennis Club, Bunker Links 9 hole and 18 hole Ladies Golf Club, Beta Sigma Phi Business Sorority and Ladies Bowling League. She volunteered at Red Cross and Cottage Hospital, Immaculate Heart of Mary Grade School and Costa High School where she taught Great Books and was an active member of both schools Parent Teachers Association. Mary was a Charter Member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She was a member of Immaculata Guild, Ladies of Mary, a prior president of Legion of Mary and was once the Advisor for the Organized Junior Ladies Society. She was Wedding Chairman for three years for Immaculata Guild. She was a Eucharistic Minister for three years.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Galesburg or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in the name of Phillip Dwyer Schwarz at 500 LaSalle St. Chicago, Ill 60603-1344.
