|Guy M. Ward, 94, of 609 W. Monmouth St., Abingdon, died at 7:25 am Saturday, April 2, 2011 at his home.
He was born on January 27, 1917 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of C. E. and Reane (Rose) Ward. He married R. Wanda Hearring on January 18, 1937 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on July 30, 1999.
Guy is survived by one son, Ronnie M. Ward of Abingdon; one daughter, Joann (and Joe) Bennett of Abingdon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Emma Jean, Shirley, Carlene and Billie Ann.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, four brothers and three sisters.
He had lived in Abingdon most of his life and also had lived in Franklin County, Missouri. He worked at the Abingdon Pottery and retired in 1973. He was a member and deacon of the former First General Baptist Church in Abingdon. His favorite hobby was gardening.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Ray Hutson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
