|Norma Jeanne Martenson Evans completed this part of life on March 29, 2012 in Galesburg, IL. Norma was born February 28, 1932, near London Mills, IL.
She was the daughter of Mable D. Carlson Martenson and Alfred Martenson. She married William Robert Evans on October 21, 1951 in Galesburg. He preceeded her in death on December 11, 2002. Surviving are one son, Robert D. (and Shikha) Evans of Flossmoor, IL and one daughter, Barbara S. (and Jack P.) Ball of Knoxville, IL. Surviving are nine grandchildren: Evan Qualls, Bettendorf, IA, Jacob Emery, Bloomington, IL, Krishanu (and Holly) Evans, Flossmoor, IL, Andrea (and Scott) Stevenson, West Des Moines, IA, Noah Emery, South Bend, IN, Sarah Qualls, Bettendorf, IA, Nilanjan Evans, Flossmoor, IL, Bryce Ball, Knoxville, IL, Abby Ball, Knoxville, IL. Also Norma had one very special great granddaughter, Claire Emerald Stevenson. Norma was preceded in death by one son, Richard Scott Evans, and one daughter, Patricia L. Qualls. Also, by three sisters and one brother.
Norma graduated from Abingdon High School in 1950. She worked as a homemaker for most of her young adult life. Later, she worked as a secretary and receptionist for several local businesses, lastly retiring from Dr. Crisman's office in Galesburg.
Norma was a creative soul. Her talents included crafting and poetry. She enjoyed being an active member of TOPS and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg, IL.
Norma was a devoted wife, caring and patient mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother. All are grateful to God for the faith she expressed, the example she was, and the joy she gave all the years of her earthly life.
Visitation to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at First United Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, IL. Celebration of Life ceremony, officiated by Pastor Phyllis Sterr, will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church in Knoxville following the visitation at 11 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois assisting in arrangements. Memorials may be made to Holt International.
